- About Rev. Willie Thornton
Rev. Willie Thornton was born in Orleans, France; however, he was raised on the military base in Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri. He has lived in the Kansas City Metropolitan area for the past 35 years. He is a musician by trade and has written and arranged many gospels, spirituals, sacred and jazz compositions; He is also a music educator for Kansas City Public Schools, Rev. Thornton has been in ministry for over 39 years.
He has been a gospel clinician and has served as the Minister of Music and Associate Minister for several churches. In 2011, Rev. Thornton answered his calling to be the pastor of The Mount Christian Worship Center, also known as “The Mount”. Under God’s leadership, he helped the congregation grow both spiritually and numerically.
Rev. Thornton is married to his best friend in life, Rev. Brandy Thornton who is the Co-Pastor of The Mount. They are proud parents of 10 children. He is the author of the book, “The Formula for a Successful Marriage: Using Practical Applications for a Healthy Relationship”, which is one of the main sources that he and his wife, First Lady Rev. Brandy, use for marriage conferences and counseling.
The Mount’s motto is: “Bringing Hope, Building Lives”. Rev. Thornton is continuously seeking ways for the Lord to use him in a way that will help impact the surrounding community. One of his favorite scriptures is Romans 8:28 – “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”
